Sustainability
Acting responsibly toward our environment while keeping the livable future of coming generations in mind is one of our core tasks as a company in the raw materials industry.
Through raw material extraction, we use the landscape for a short time, but what emerges afterward is something we actively help shape. The combination of recultivation and renaturation has, in our former pits, deliberately created new habitats for animals and plants alongside forestry and agricultural land.
This has given the biodiversity of our landscape a new opportunity. We don't limit this commitment to extraction alone. Throughout the entire processing chain, we act consistently in line with the principles of environmental compatibility.
Climate Protection in Day-to-Day Operations

Electric Vehicle Fleet Underway
The company car fleet is being gradually converted to electric vehicles, already reaching 35% by 2026. In parallel, 50% of the forklift fleet has been converted to electric operation, directly reducing emissions at the production site. Around 30% of the raw sand is now transported from the pits to the plant by electric truck.

Electricity from Solar Park
In summer 2025, in addition to the existing rooftop PV installations with around 300 kWp, a ground-mounted PV installation with just under 2.7 MWp was put into operation. The solar power generated flows directly into production and noticeably reduces our external electricity purchases.

Independent Process Water Circuit
At our Freihungsand plant, we have built our own process water treatment system. This lets us close the water cycle largely in-house and sustainably reduce our need for fresh water during ongoing operations.

Building Heat from Geothermal and Waste Heat
The administration building is climate-controlled via geothermal collectors. Surplus production waste heat is additionally used to heat workshops and storage areas.

Recultivation of Former Extraction Areas
Active recultivation – the targeted restoration of as natural a state as possible – has already begun in individual pit areas. The land is subsequently handed back to the landowners.

Heat Transition in the Drying Process
Since summer 2025, with the commissioning of our own biomass heating plant, we have been replacing natural gas in the most energy-intensive process of our production: fire drying. Since then, the required process heat has been generated using regionally available wood residue, with specially designed heat exchangers as a custom solution for our high-temperature process. From 2026, this will noticeably reduce our CO₂ emissions in this area.
