Up to 70 percent of the processed silica sands at Strobel Quarzsand are fire-dried – to a residual moisture of less than one per mille. Afterward, high-frequency screening machines and an in-house algorithm ensure precise classification to customer requirements.

Drying with rotary kiln dryers and heat recovery

Three rotary kiln dryers reduce the residual moisture of our silica sands to below 0.1% – an important prerequisite for industrial applications ranging from glass manufacturing to the foundry industry. As an energy source, we primarily rely on biomass, supplemented by the recovery of waste heat from our own on-site power generation.

Screening and formulation tailored to your needs

To precisely maintain grain size limits, we rely on modern high-frequency screening machines. They are characterized by high screening accuracy as well as high feed and throughput capacities. Depending on requirements, screening is possible in grain size ranges from 0.07 mm to 3 mm.

For further quality improvement, additional magnetic separations are carried out. An algorithm developed specifically for Strobel Quarzsand has, for over twenty years, made it possible to blend sand types according to customer-specific formulations – precisely tailored to each customer's individual requirements.
